US President Donald Trump says shooting down of US jets will not impact Iran talks
Donald Trump has said that the recent shooting down of US military jets will not affect ongoing diplomatic talks with Iran. He stated that even though military tensions remain high, discussions between the two countries will continue.
This is the first public response from Trump regarding reports that US aircraft were lost during the ongoing conflict in the region. He said that diplomatic efforts are still important and should not be stopped because of military incidents.
Earlier reports from officials in both the United States and Iran claimed that two US warplanes were shot down over Iran and the Gulf region. The incidents took place while tensions between the two sides were already high due to ongoing military activity.
According to the reports, two pilots were rescued after ejecting from their aircraft, while one pilot remains missing. Iranian forces have reportedly launched search operations to locate the missing pilot.
The first aircraft, a two-seat F-15E fighter jet, was reportedly hit by Iranian fire. A second aircraft, an A-10 Warthog, was also struck by missiles and crashed over Kuwait after the pilot safely ejected.
There were also reports that two Black Hawk helicopters involved in search operations came under threat but managed to exit the area safely. However, full details about damage and casualties have not been officially confirmed.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has stated that search operations are ongoing in southwestern Iran and added that efforts are being made to locate the missing pilot. They also issued warnings regarding foreign military presence in the region.
The situation remains tense, with both military actions and diplomatic talks continuing at the same time. Officials from both sides have not yet provided full clarity on the status of the missing pilot or the overall damage caused during the incidents.
