West Bengal Voter List Revision on Track
In West Bengal, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has said it is confident of completing the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list within the deadline of February 14, as fixed by the Election Commission.
In its weekly report sent to the Election Commission, the state election office submitted detailed information on all incidents related to the SIR hearings. After reviewing the report, the Election Commission urgently called West Bengal’s Chief Electoral Officer, Manoj Kumar Agarwal, to Delhi for discussions. A long meeting was held to review the progress of the voter list revision.
Sources in the Election Commission said the talks focused on ensuring that the SIR process is carried out smoothly across the state. The discussions also covered steps needed to conduct free and fair elections in West Bengal.
Other important issues such as security arrangements, booth facilities, and election management plans for the 2026 Assembly elections were also discussed. Officials said special monitoring of the voter list revision process will begin from today and will be directly supervised by Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal.
