Wolves Beat Rockets in Overtime
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Julius Randle hit a game-winning jumper with 8.8 seconds left in overtime, capping a dramatic 15-0 run that helped the Minnesota Timberwolves defeat the Houston Rockets 110-108 on Wednesday night.
The Wolves trailed by 13 points early in overtime but made an incredible comeback to win. Randle, who scored all his 24 points in the second half, was called for a foul with 3.3 seconds left, but the Rockets failed to capitalize. Kevin Durant, who led Houston with 30 points, missed two free throws that would have sealed the game.
Earlier in regulation, Durant and Alperen Sengun combined for a 12-0 run that put the Rockets ahead. They scored the first 13 points in overtime before the Wolves responded with their decisive run.
Jaden McDaniels had 25 points for Minnesota but left with a leg injury. The Wolves were already missing several key players, including Anthony Edwards, who has been out this season. Despite injuries, they stayed close to fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
The Rockets, led by Durant and Sengun’s 30-point performances, fell to sixth place. They will next play the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.
The Timberwolves, now 45-28, host the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.
