Youth Congress Seeks Ban on Film Parasakthi

The Tamil Nadu Youth Congress has demanded a ban on the recently released film Parasakthi, starring actor Sivakarthikeyan. The party alleges that the movie misrepresents historical events related to the Congress party.

Parasakthi, which was released in theatres on January 10, is set against the backdrop of the 1960s student movements and anti-Hindi protests in Tamil Nadu. According to the Youth Congress, some scenes in the film distort historical facts and portray events in a misleading manner.

The filmmakers have stated that the movie is a work of fiction inspired by historical events. The Censor Board of Film Certification cleared the film for release after making 25 cuts, with certain scenes clearly marked as fictional.

Despite these changes, the Youth Congress has maintained that the film could confuse audiences and create misunderstandings about history. The party has urged authorities to review the film again and take action.

So far, the film’s producers and actor Sivakarthikeyan have not issued an official response to the demand. The controversy has sparked discussions among moviegoers and political circles across the state.
