Multidisciplinary Aesthetic Care

SIMS Hospital, Chennai, has announced the inauguration of the SIMS Aesthetic Institute (SAI), a dedicated centre for aesthetic surgery and aesthetic medicine that brings together comprehensive, specialist-led aesthetic care under one roof. The institute will offer personalised treatment solutions, combining advanced procedures and clinical expertise to address a wide range of aesthetic concerns. A distinguishing feature of SAI is its multidisciplinary approach, bringing together four major areas of expertise: plastic surgery, dermatology, cosmetic obstetrics & gynaecology, and maxillofacial & dental surgery. The institute will offer a broad spectrum of surgical and non-surgical aesthetic services, including facial aesthetic procedures, body contouring, breast aesthetics, skin and hair treatments, cosmetic gynaecological procedures, and maxillofacial and dental aesthetic procedures. In his comments, Mr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder-Chancellor, SRM Group, said, “Aesthetic medicine is moving beyond the pursuit of isolated cosmetic enhancements towards a more holistic understanding of aesthetics, where appearance, proportion, function and well-being are considered together. As patients increasingly seek solutions across the face, skin, hair, teeth, body, breast and intimate areas, the future of aesthetic care lies in bringing diverse specialties together around the individual rather than treating each concern in isolation. SAI has been envisioned around this philosophy. Our aim is not to prescribe a universal definition of beauty, but to give patients access to the expertise and choices needed to achieve their own aesthetic aspirations—while preserving natural proportions, function and, above all, safety.” Dr. Ravi Pachamuthu, Chairman -SRM Group and Chairman of SIMS Hospitals, said, “The future of aesthetic care will be defined not by individual procedures or specialties, but by how intelligently they come together around the patient. At SAI, we envision an integrated model in which a patient’s aesthetic goals are assessed holistically and the right expertise is brought together, whether from Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery or Cosmetic Gynaecology, to create a personalised treatment pathway. As the boundaries between surgical and non-surgical aesthetics continue to evolve, this multidisciplinary approach will become increasingly important. The philosophy is simple: the patient’s needs should determine the specialist and the treatment, rather than the specialist determining what the patient needs.” Dr Raju Sivasamy, Vice President, SIMS Hospital, added, “Every individual has different anatomy, expectations, cultural influences and aesthetic preferences. Our objective is to understand what each individual wants and determine what can be achieved safely and naturally. Aesthetic medicine should enhance individuality, not erase it. The appropriate treatment will always be determined after an individual assessment rather than through a one-size-fits-all approach. The key is to ensure that every patient receives the right treatment from the appropriate specialist.”
