India Launches AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 began in New Delhi, marking the first time such a large global artificial intelligence (AI) event is being held in the Global South. In a special interview with ANI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “AI is a big opportunity for India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047. Using AI carefully and strategically can help solve important development problems, create new economic opportunities, promote inclusive growth, bridge the gap between cities and villages, and provide more people access to opportunities.”

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the five-day summit on Monday, February 16, 2026. He said intelligence and careful thinking are essential to make sure AI benefits society. In a post on X in Hindi, he added, “The India AI Impact Summit also aims to explore how AI can be used for public good.”

Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, said on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, that ethics will be very important in determining how AI is used effectively, especially in the health sector.

The summit brings together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss AI applications, challenges, and the role of technology in creating a better and more inclusive future for India.
