NASA, Axiom Plan Fifth Private Space Mission
NASA and Axiom Space have agreed to launch the fifth private astronaut mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The mission is scheduled to take off no earlier than January 2027 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said the mission shows that commercial space travel is already happening, not just a future idea. He added that private missions help increase access to space and encourage competition in low Earth orbit.
He also said NASA looks forward to many more private astronaut missions in the coming years.
The partnership with Axiom Space highlights how private companies are playing an important role in space exploration, making it easier for more people to reach space.
