“Tamil Nadu Launches Free Laptop Scheme for Students”
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced the launch of the first phase of a free laptop scheme for students today. The program is called “Ulagam Ungal Kaiyil” (which means “The World is in Your Hands”) and is aimed at helping students become digitally empowered and improve their skills.
Under the scheme, a total of 20 lakh laptops will be distributed to students. In the first phase, 10 lakh laptops will be given out. The government has set aside Rs 2,000 crore for this initiative in the current financial year.
While launching the program, CM Stalin said, “The laptop is not a gift, it is an opportunity to rule the world. For us, this is not an expenditure, but an investment in the education of the next generation.”
The scheme is expected to boost digital learning among students and provide them with the tools they need to succeed in a modern, technology-driven world.
