Suspect Arrested in Murder of Couple Near Avadi

The Avadi police arrested Mahesh Tararam, a youth from Rajasthan, in connection with the murder of a 60-year-old Siddha practitioner, Sivan Nair, and his 55-year-old wife, Prasannakumari, near Avadi. The couple was found dead in their home on Sunday evening. Mahesh, a former patient of Sivan, was apprehended after CCTV footage and evidence at the crime scene linked him to the murders.

He was found wearing a blood-stained shirt at the time of arrest and confessed to the crimes during interrogation. Mahesh had previously visited the victims’ clinic and took advantage of his acquaintance with Sivan to gain entry into their house. He assaulted and killed Prasannakumari following an argument before murdering Sivan. The police have remanded Mahesh in judicial custody pending further investigation.
