Seven Dead in Karnataka Bus Fire Accident
The death toll in the bus accident in Chitradurga district of Karnataka has risen to seven after the bus driver died early today due to his injuries.
The accident happened yesterday when a sleeper coach bus collided with a container truck and caught fire. At least six people were burned to death, and 21 others suffered burn injuries. Five bodies were recovered from the bus, while one body was found in the container truck.
Officials said the bodies were badly burnt and cannot be identified yet. The bodies will be handed over to the families only after DNA test results are received. Bone samples have been sent for forensic tests, and the results are expected soon.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced financial assistance for the victims. He said the families of those who died will receive ₹5 lakh each, and those injured will get ₹50,000 each.
