“Indian Army Highlights Major Achievements in 2025”

In 2025, the Indian Army reported major progress in its operations, defence strength, and use of modern technology. One of the key actions this year was Operation Sindoor, launched in May 2025 after the Pahalgam terror attack. During this operation, the Army destroyed nine terrorist camps across the border and neutralised seven terrorists. More than a dozen terror launch pads along the Line of Control (LoC) were also destroyed.

The Army said the strikes were carefully planned, accurate, and completed within a limited time. This helped strengthen deterrence while avoiding further escalation.

The Indian Army also made important advances in its missile and artillery systems. A BrahMos missile unit under the Southern Command successfully carried out a combat missile launch. The Pinaka rocket system was also tested successfully, improving the Army’s ability to carry out precise long-range attacks.

In 2025, the Army received six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, moving forward with its long-pending Army Aviation induction plan. The Army also said that 91 per cent of the ammunition it uses is now made in India, supporting the goal of self-reliance.

The Army expanded its use of modern unmanned systems. It inducted drones, around 3,000 remotely piloted aircraft, about 150 tethered drones, and swarm drones. These systems improve surveillance and battlefield awareness.

To strengthen technology use, the Army focused on moving from simply adopting technology to fully integrating it into operations. Edge Data Centres were set up to allow faster processing of information and quicker decision-making near the battlefield.

The Indian Army also took part in several important joint military exercises with countries such as France, the United States, Thailand, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the UAE. These exercises helped improve coordination, counter-terror operations, urban warfare skills, and regional partnerships.

In addition, the Army organised the Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025, focusing on defence reforms and transformation to build a secure and developed India.
