Dense Fog Likely Across North India Today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dense to very dense fog in several parts of north India today. These areas include Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.

IMD has also predicted dense fog conditions in Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad. Similar foggy weather is expected in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim and the northeastern states. The fog may affect visibility and cause problems for road, rail and air travel.

In southern India, the weather department has forecast thunderstorms and lightning in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Meanwhile, air quality in the Delhi-NCR region continues to be a major concern. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the average Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital was recorded at 321 as of 7 a.m. today. This level falls under the “very poor” category and can cause health problems, especially for children, elderly people and those with breathing issues.

Authorities have advised people to take precautions, avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, and stay updated with weather and air quality reports.
