Mia Blichfeldt Slams India Open Venue Conditions
New Delhi: The India Open badminton tournament has moved to a new venue this year, but some familiar complaints have returned. Danish badminton player Mia Blichfeldt has once again raised concerns about the conditions at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.
Blichfeldt, who had criticised the venue last year on social media, said that while the playing courts are good, the hygiene and overall environment remain poor. She said she had hoped the conditions would improve at the new hall but was disappointed.
According to Blichfeldt, the stadium was dirty and unhealthy for players. She claimed that on Monday, when she arrived at the courts, birds were flying inside the hall, leaving droppings and creating an unhygienic atmosphere.
The player also mentioned that the weather and ventilation inside the stadium added to the discomfort. Her comments have once again sparked discussion about player facilities and tournament standards at major international events held in the country.
