“Chennai Metro Poonamallee-Vadapalani Stretch Cleared”

In a major development, the Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II trains on the Poonamallee to Vadapalani stretch have received final approval from the Railway Board. This means the trains are now cleared to start carrying passengers, likely from February.

The Railway Board’s approval is a key step, but the Metro still needs one more important clearance before starting operations. The safety approval for all the stations along this stretch must be given by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). Once this is received, the trains will be fully ready to operate for daily commuters.

Officials said the Poonamallee – Vadapalani stretch is an important part of Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II project. It will connect major areas in the city and make travel easier for thousands of passengers every day. Metro authorities are now working to complete all safety checks and station readiness so that the new stretch can start serving the public without delays.

This move is expected to reduce traffic congestion on roads and provide a faster, safer, and more convenient travel option for Chennai residents.
