Pichai Says AI Unlocks Hyper Progress

Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Thursday (February 19, 2026) said that artificial intelligence (AI) is bringing an era of “hyper progress” and has the power to transform the world in many positive ways.

Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit, Pichai said that AI could lead to major scientific discoveries and help countries, especially emerging economies like India, grow faster. He explained that AI can allow developing nations to skip certain stages of development and move ahead more quickly by using advanced technologies.

Pichai said that no other technology has made him “dream bigger” than artificial intelligence. According to him, AI has the potential to improve healthcare, education, agriculture, and many other sectors. He highlighted how AI tools can help researchers find new medicines, improve crop yields, and create better learning systems.

However, he also warned that the benefits of AI must be shared equally. He said the digital divide — the gap between those who have access to technology and those who do not — should not turn into an “AI divide.” To prevent this, countries need to invest in strong computing infrastructure, better internet connectivity, and digital skills training.

Pichai stressed that governments, private companies, and educational institutions must work together to ensure that AI is developed responsibly and used for the benefit of all people. He said that building inclusive AI systems is important so that everyone can take part in this new technological era.

The India AI Impact Summit brought together leaders from government, technology companies, startups, and academia to discuss how AI can shape the future of India and the world.
