Dubai to Host Fifth Esports Festival
Dubai is set to become a major global centre for gaming and esports once again as it hosts the fifth edition of the Dubai Esports and Games Festival from May 8 to 24. The festival will feature exciting tournaments, industry conferences, and entertainment activities for families across the city.
The event is organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, which is part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. Since its launch in 2022, the festival has grown quickly in size and popularity.
Last year’s edition attracted more than 45,000 visitors, including gaming fans, families, professional players, and industry experts. It featured 12 major events, such as esports competitions, gaming exhibitions, cosplay shows, and workshops.
The 2026 edition takes place as Dubai continues to focus on expanding its digital and creative economy. The emirate has launched several initiatives to support the film, gaming, and media sectors. These efforts are being guided by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum through the Dubai Media Council.
The festival also supports Dubai’s long-term development plan under the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. This strategy aims to make Dubai one of the world’s top three global cities by boosting innovation, business growth, and creative industries.
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, said the festival has developed into an important platform for the global gaming industry. He added that the event not only entertains audiences but also creates business opportunities and strengthens Dubai’s position as a leading destination for gaming and esports.
With international tournaments, networking opportunities, and family-friendly attractions, the Dubai Esports and Games Festival is expected to attract thousands of visitors again this year and further enhance the city’s reputation as a digital innovation hub.
