Goa Chief Minister Supports Women’s Reservation
Pramod Sawant, the Chief Minister of Goa, has supported the idea of reserving seats for women in legislative assemblies. He said he is ready to accept the change even if his own seat becomes reserved for women in the future.
He spoke about this at an event held to create awareness about the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. This law aims to reserve 33% of seats for women in legislative bodies across the country. Sawant said that Goa is fully prepared to implement this reservation.
Meanwhile, the Parliament of India has extended its Budget session. It will hold a special meeting for three days, from April 16 to 18. During this session, leaders are expected to discuss and possibly make changes to the Women’s Reservation Act.
The goal is to ensure that the law is properly implemented by 2029. This move is seen as an important step toward increasing women’s participation in politics and decision-making.
