US President Says Iran Agrees to Hand Over Enriched Uranium in Peace Talks

US President Donald Trump has announced that Iran has agreed to hand over its enriched uranium, which could be used for nuclear weapons. He mentioned this during remarks to reporters at the White House, adding that both countries are close to reaching a peace deal. Trump described the negotiations as very successful and expressed optimism about the chances of concluding a deal.

However, despite these claims, US-Iran peace talks failed to produce an agreement during a 21-hour meeting in Islamabad last weekend. The main issue was Iran’s refusal to give up its right to enrich nuclear fuel, which Washington insists is unacceptable. US Vice President JD Vance had previously stated that if Iran meets America’s conditions regarding its nuclear ambitions, the deal could be beneficial for both sides.

The United States has proposed a 20-year freeze on Iran’s uranium enrichment as part of the agreement. However, Tehran has only agreed to a five-year suspension, which was rejected by the Trump administration. Earlier, Iran had offered to suspend enrichment for up to five years, but this too was turned down by the US, which demanded a complete and permanent end to all domestic enrichment activities.

Iran maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful and does not aim to develop nuclear weapons. The country has consistently denied any intention to pursue such capabilities.
