India and South Korea Leaders Discuss Progress on Strategic Partnership

India and South Korea discussed ways to strengthen their economic partnership during talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Lee Jae Myung in New Delhi. The leaders reviewed progress in their Special Strategic Partnership, focusing on expanding cooperation in trade, finance, shipbuilding, AI, energy, semiconductors, technology, defence, security, and cultural exchanges.

The officials also touched upon regional and global issues of mutual concern. President Lee participated in a tree-planting event under India’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, highlighting both nations’ commitment to sustainability.

India and South Korea signed an agreement with a Korean shipbuilding company to improve Indian shipyards, enhance skills, and upgrade port infrastructure. Defence cooperation was another key area, with plans to collaborate on defence hardware procurement, telecom equipment, and cybersecurity.

Both leaders agreed to work together to promote peace, security, and stronger multilateral institutions amid global uncertainties.
