International Design Day Celebrated Worldwide Today

Today is International Design Day, celebrated around the world on April 27. This day marks the founding of the International Council of Design in 1963. Before 2020, it was known as World Design Day. The purpose of this day is to highlight how design plays an important role in improving everyday life and helping societies grow.

Each year, a special theme is chosen. This year’s theme is “the spaces in between.” It focuses on the small but important areas that connect people, ideas, and communities. These can be physical spaces like streets and parks, or social spaces where people interact and share experiences.

The International Council of Design is encouraging designers to create spaces that make people feel safe, included, and comfortable. Designers are asked to think about local needs and come up with creative solutions that suit different cultures and lifestyles. At the same time, they should respect diversity and help bring people together across different regions and backgrounds.

International Design Day reminds us that design is not just about how things look. It is also about solving problems, improving well-being, and making life better for everyone. Through thoughtful design, it is possible to connect communities, reduce gaps, and create positive change all over the world.
