Thennarasu Rejects Keerthana’s ₹10.5 Lakh Crore Claim
Chennai: Former Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu has strongly rejected allegations made by State Industries Minister S. Keerthana, who claimed that the previous DMK government had “washed away” ₹10.5 lakh crore. He said the statement is false and shows a lack of understanding of Tamil Nadu’s financial system.
In a post shared on social media platform X, Thennarasu accused the minister of spreading misinformation and trying to build a false narrative against the DMK. He said such claims can mislead the public if they are not based on facts or proper financial data.
He further explained that Tamil Nadu’s financial administration is a structured and transparent system, and large-scale figures like ₹10.5 lakh crore cannot simply be “washed away” as suggested. According to him, public finances are managed through clear procedures, audits, and accountability systems.
Thennarasu also said that political leaders should be careful while making statements about sensitive financial matters, especially when addressing the public through social media. He warned that such remarks can create confusion and unnecessary controversy.
His response comes after the industries minister’s allegations sparked political debate between ruling party leaders. The exchange has added to ongoing tensions within the state’s political discussions over financial management and past governance.
