Iran-Israel War Update: Trump Sees Hopes for Peace

U.S. President Donald Trump considered launching a major attack on Iran but decided against it as he saw potential for reaching a peace agreement. Earlier, Trump had extended a truce indefinitely and expressed his desire to end the war, which has caused political problems for him. He prepared for an attack on May 19 after Iran rejected his proposed deal terms.

Meanwhile, Iran submitted a new 14-point proposal through Pakistan to the U.S., aiming to end the conflict despite ongoing diplomatic challenges. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran would not back down to any nation’s demands.

On May 17, Iran announced the creation of the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PSGA) to manage the strategic waterway. Under this new system, all ships passing through the strait must receive approval from the PSGA and comply with its rules and regulations.
