Emmy Producers Share How They Made the Show End Early

The 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards finished three minutes earlier than their usual scheduled ending time on Monday night. The ceremony ended at around 10:57 p.m. ET, giving the show’s executive producers Jeannae Rouzan-Clay, Dionne Harmon and Jesse Collins a pleasant surprise.

When Collins was asked about the early finish, he joked that when producers are worried about running out of time, they can rely on Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey to handle their segment in their own entertaining way.

Harrelson and McConaughey presented the final award of the evening, Best Comedy Series, which went to Widow’s Bay. Their appearance became one of the lighter moments of the ceremony as the two actors joked about how they could help fill the remaining time.

The pair also used the appearance to promote their upcoming Apple TV+ series Brothers, which marks their return to television together. The project reunites the actors 12 years after they worked together on True Detective in 2014.
