SRM Easwari Innovation Centre Inaugurated at Easwari Engineering College

Easwari Engineering College, Ramapuram today inaugurated The SRM Easwari Innovation Centre, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s efforts to foster innovation, research, entrepreneurship and industry-oriented learning. Thiru P. Viswanathan, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, was the Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony. The event was held in the presence of Dr R. Shivakumar, M.D., Chairman; Smt. Geetha Shivakumar, Vice-Chairperson; Shri S. Niranjan, Co-Chairman, SRM Group of Institutions, Chennai, Ramapuram & Trichy and the Principal, Dr P. Deiva Sundari.

The programme commenced with the formal inauguration of the SRM Easwari Innovation Centre, followed by the unveiling of the board, lighting of the traditional Kuthuvilakku and Pooja rituals. A significant milestone in this initiative is the generous contribution of ₹1.5 crore by the SRM Easwari Alumni Association towards the construction of the Innovation Centre Building. This substantial support reflects the alumni community’s commitment to strengthening the institution’s infrastructure and creating a dedicated space for excellence, innovation, learning and industry-oriented development.

A series of specialised facilities were subsequently inaugurated, including the PCB Lab, 3D Printing Lab, Machinery Lab, and Wood Cutter & FAB Room. As part of the event, Easwari StartupTN – Pre-Incubation Centre was launched to provide an enabling ecosystem for nurturing innovative ideas and entrepreneurial initiatives. The Startup Peravai – A Startup Conclave was also launched, further strengthening the institution’s focus on student entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Innovation Centre is supported by an impressive ecosystem of Centres of Excellence associated with leading technology companies such as ABB Robotics, Ansys, Cadence, Ciklum, Cisco, Hitachi, Johnson Controls, Keysight, Microchip, Nokia, Oracle, Red Hat, Siemens, Synopsys, Motherson, Silicon Labs, Econ Systems, Multicoreware and Xilinx, among others. The institution also has industrial collaborations involving organisations including Deller, Faurecia, Kone Elevator, Grundfos, Fujitec Bosch, Toyota Connected, TVS, Nokia, Decathlon and other industry partners.

The inauguration of the SRM Easwari Innovation Centre marks an important step towards creating a vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem at the institution. With advanced laboratories, industry-linked Centres of Excellence, startup initiatives and opportunities for student innovation, the centre is expected to facilitate experiential learning, multidisciplinary research and the development of industry-ready solutions.

The event concluded with the showcase of student innovations, highlighting the institution’s commitment to empowering young innovators and preparing students to contribute meaningfully to the evolving technological and entrepreneurial landscape.
