Russia Bombs Aid Center in Ukraine

A Russian attack on a humanitarian aid centre in Ukraine has reportedly killed 26 people, according to Ukrainian authorities. Following the incident, the United States announced plans to hold new peace talks aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict.

The humanitarian aid centre was located inside a school in Komyshuvakha village in the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine. The school had been closed because it was located close to the front line. However, the building was being used as a shelter and a centre for distributing essential supplies to local residents.

On Monday, several residents gathered at the school to collect food and other necessary items. The attack took place while people were present at the aid distribution centre, causing heavy casualties and leaving several people trapped under the damaged building.

Ukraine’s emergency services reported that two rescue workers and four police officers were among those killed in the attack. Five people, including two rescue personnel, were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

Regina Kharchenko, secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, said that 27 people remained missing following the incident. Police officers and emergency rescue teams were working to reach people trapped beneath the rubble and provide assistance to survivors.

The attack has raised serious concerns about the safety of civilians and humanitarian workers in areas close to the front line. Aid centres and shelters are important for people who have been affected by the ongoing conflict.

The United States announced plans for new peace talks following the attack. The development has renewed attention on efforts to reduce violence and find a peaceful solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Russia had not issued any official comment on the reported attack at the time of publication. Rescue operations and efforts to locate missing people were continuing in the affected area.
