Taylor Tomlinson’s Health Struggles
Comedian Taylor Tomlinson has spoken openly about a difficult period in her life when her health began to decline shortly after she took on the role of host of CBS’ After Midnight.
Tomlinson initially believed she was suffering from a severe cold. In her book Actually, Nevermind, she described the illness as an “insane, messed-up, demon cold.” She visited a doctor and was prescribed steroids, while another doctor later diagnosed her with mononucleosis, commonly known as mono.
Despite feeling unwell, Tomlinson continued working. At the time, she was also filming her third Netflix comedy special, Have It All. She later watched the finished special and realized just how sick she had been while performing.
Her health problems did not end after the special was completed. A few months after beginning her new television job, Tomlinson continued to experience repeated illnesses. She said she tried to protect herself by wearing a mask whenever possible, but she still became sick frequently.
According to Tomlinson, she experienced problems including sinus infections, chest colds and strep throat. The illnesses reportedly returned every few weeks, making it difficult for her to feel healthy for an extended period.
Along with the repeated infections, Tomlinson also dealt with ongoing tiredness and body aches. The combination of her demanding work schedule and continuing health problems made the period particularly challenging.
Her experience shows how difficult it can be to continue working while dealing with ongoing health problems. Tomlinson has since spoken about the experience publicly, giving fans a closer look at the challenges she faced behind the scenes while building her career in television and stand-up comedy.
