U.K.-Iranian Man Arrested Over Airbase Incident

A man with dual UK and Iranian nationality was arrested on October 1 after an unusual incident at RAF Fairford in southwest England. Israeli officials claim they informed the UK about a potential attack before it happened.

The arrest followed claims by UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who suggested there were signs of Iranian involvement in an event over the weekend at RAF Fairford, a base used by US forces against Iran.

On September 27, police were called to RAF Fairford after a local farmer spotted blocked roads and masked men. The area was evacuated, leading to five London-based men being arrested. They were released on bail two days later, drawing criticism from the US.

Counter Terrorism Policing announced the arrest of a 25-year-old dual national in London for suspected terrorist planning. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated they had warned the UK about the attack.

The investigation is complex, with officials considering various angles, including possible foreign state involvement. Iran denied any role and criticized the UK for allowing US military use of RAF Fairford.
