On the bright morning of Wednesday, September 30, Madurantakam was covered in strong sunlight, with the intense heat creating mirages and making the roads appear to shimmer.

The colour yellow was highly visible across the area, with decorations, banners, election notices and posters filling streets and walls. The colour is closely associated with the Vanniyar community and has also featured prominently in the political campaigns of various parties and groups.

Large banners showing political leaders could be seen along the roads, greeting voters as campaign activity continued across the constituency. The widespread posters and decorations reflected the strong political presence in the region as the election campaign gathered pace.
