Indian High Commissioner Trivedi Celebrates Gandhi and Shastri Birthdays
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi extended his warm greetings on the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. He highlighted the lasting contributions and values of both national leaders.
Trivedi recalled Shastri’s famous slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” which honoured the important role of soldiers and farmers in nation-building. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi later expanded the vision with “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan,” adding the importance of science, technology and research.
Speaking about Mahatma Gandhi, Trivedi stressed the continuing relevance of his message of non-violence, peace and brotherhood, particularly at a time when violence and conflicts are increasing around the world.
He said Gandhi continues to receive love and respect across the globe even decades after his death because his principles remain an inspiration for humanity.
Trivedi expressed hope that Gandhi’s vision of a peaceful and just society, often described as Ram Rajya, would eventually become a reality not only in India but throughout the world.
