Anbumani Questions Tamil Nadu Government Borrowings

Tamil Nadu’s financial management has come under strong political criticism, with PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss accusing the DMK government of serious mismanagement of public funds. He questioned how the state government has used more than Rs 2 lakh crore that was borrowed over the last four years.

Anbumani alleged that the DMK government raised huge loans by saying the money would be used to build infrastructure such as roads, bridges and public facilities. However, he claimed that a large part of this borrowed money does not appear in the state’s capital expenditure, which shows spending on long-term assets.

He said this raises serious doubts about how the funds were actually spent. According to him, if the loans were taken mainly for infrastructure development, there should be clear records showing the creation of assets worth the same amount.

Anbumani demanded that the state government give a proper explanation and be transparent about the use of public money. He said people have the right to know where borrowed funds are going and whether they are being used for development as promised.
