Asian Games 2026 Men’s Cricket Semifinals Update

India and Pakistan have advanced to the men’s cricket semifinals at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya after rain disrupted all four quarterfinal matches.

India were scheduled to face Afghanistan, while Pakistan were due to play Hong Kong. Both matches were abandoned because of rain, allowing the top-seeded teams to progress to the knockout stage.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh also reached the semifinals after their respective quarterfinal matches against Nepal and Malaysia were called off due to the weather.

The semifinals will be played at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. Pakistan will face Bangladesh in the first semifinal on Thursday, followed by India taking on Sri Lanka in the second semifinal.

India and Pakistan are placed on opposite sides of the knockout draw, meaning they can meet only in the medal matches. If both teams win their semifinals, they will face each other in the gold-medal match on Saturday. If one team loses in the semifinals, an India-Pakistan clash could take place in the bronze-medal match.

Rain also affected the group-stage matches. Nepal managed to score 149 for four in 15 overs against Japan before play was stopped. The match between Malaysia and Oman was also abandoned because of rain.

India enter the knockout stage as the defending Asian Games champions. They won the gold medal at the 2023 Hangzhou Games after their final against Afghanistan was abandoned because of rain, with India awarded the title based on their higher seeding.
