BJP Responds to Congress’ ‘Free Education’ Policy in Madhya Pradesh

The announcement of a ‘free education’ policy and scholarships for school children by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh has sparked a response from the ruling BJP. BJP leaders held a series of press conferences to counter the Congress’s scholarship proposal.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan alleged that Kamal Nath, the state’s Congress Chief, coerced Priyanka Gandhi Vadra into making a fake announcement about the free education policy. The BJP seems uneasy with the Congress’s promises, including offering free education from Classes 1 to 12 and monthly allowances for students under the ‘Padho-Padhao’ scheme.

These promises have triggered a competitive stance from the ruling party ahead of the upcoming elections.
