Brewers Beat Pirates 5-2 in Thrilling Game

Dustin May pitched well in his first start for Milwaukee, leading the Brewers to a 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. Jackson Chourio and Gary Sánchez hit home runs, helping the Brewers secure victory after losing the opening game of the series.

May, who was traded from the St. Louis Cardinals earlier in the week, had a strong outing. He allowed two runs and three hits in six innings, striking out five batters. The Brewers got off to a fast start when Chourio hit his 15th homer of the season in the first inning.

Pittsburgh tied the game in the fourth inning with Brandon Lowe’s home run, but Milwaukee quickly regained control. Sánchez’s solo homer in the fifth inning put the Brewers back ahead. In the sixth, Garrett Mitchell ended a long slump with a double and scored on Andrew Vaughn’s single, making the score 5-2.

The Brewers’ bullpen closed out the game, with DL Hall, Aaron Ashby, and Chad Patrick combining for three scoreless innings.

Looking ahead, the Pirates have not yet announced their starter for Friday’s game against the New York Mets. Meanwhile, the Brewers will face the Minnesota Twins, with LHP Shane Drohan set to pitch.
