Central Inspection Team to Review Projects in West Bengal Amid Allegations of Irregularities
Amidst allegations and counter-allegations regarding irregularities in centrally-sponsored schemes in West Bengal and unpaid central dues, a new central field inspection team is scheduled to visit the state to review the progress of two projects—the 100-day job scheme under MGNREGA and the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY).
The National Level Monitoring Division (NLMD) has communicated with the state secretariat, and the central team is expected to be in the state for four days, submitting a report to higher authorities by December 15. While it remains unclear which districts the team will visit, Trinamool Congress leaders claim that the Union government seeks excuses to withhold legitimate central dues from the state.
