Central Teams to Assess Drought Situation in Karnataka

Three Central teams are set to visit Karnataka to evaluate the ongoing drought situation in the state. The teams will meet with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru before embarking on their assessment, scheduled to last until October 9. The areas they will assess include Belagavi, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Dharwad, Chitradurga, Haveri, Gadag, Koppal, Vijayanagara, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru, and Davanagere districts.

The Karnataka state government has declared drought in 195 taluks, citing a loss of Rs 30,432 crore due to the drought, with significant crop and horticulture losses. The government has requested a Rs 6,000 crore relief package from the Centre.
