Centre Increases LPG Distributor Margins, Consumer Prices Unaffected

The Centre has adjusted the margins for domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) distributors, raising them by ₹8.24 per 14.2 kg cylinder, effective from October 3. However, this increase will not result in higher consumer prices. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOPNG), the new margin includes ₹39.65 for establishment charges and ₹33.43 for delivery charges for 14.2 kg cylinders.

For 5 kg LPG cylinders, the establishment charges are ₹19.82 per cylinder, with delivery charges at ₹16.72 per bottle. The government has also approved a new study to recommend a revised methodology for determining distributor margins for domestic LPG. Distributors have noted that the increase is minimal, citing rising operating costs, while retail outlet dealers await margin revisions as well.
