Travelling between Poonamallee and Vadapalani in Chennai has become faster with the opening of a new stretch of the Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II network. A journey that could take nearly an hour by road during peak traffic hours can now be completed in slightly less than 40 minutes by metro.

The newly inaugurated 14.6-km stretch connects the two localities and offers commuters another option for daily travel. The new metro service is expected to help people save time, especially during busy hours when roads are crowded with vehicles.

The opening of the new stretch has attracted considerable interest among Chennai residents. Thousands of commuters from different parts of the city showed enthusiasm about travelling on the new metro line. Many wanted to experience the newly opened service and find out how quickly they could travel between Poonamallee and Vadapalani.

For regular commuters, the new metro connection could make daily journeys more convenient by reducing their dependence on road transport. It may also help people avoid some of the delays caused by heavy traffic, particularly during morning and evening peak hours.

The inauguration marks an important step in the development of Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II network. As more sections of the project become operational, the expanded metro network is expected to improve connectivity between different parts of the city.

With faster travel and a new transport option, the Poonamallee–Vadapalani stretch is expected to attract more passengers and support Chennai’s growing public transportation needs.
