Chennai Police Rescue Child Workers from Gold Jewellery Making Units

In a coordinated effort with the District Child Protection Unit, the Chennai Police conducted a raid on Wall Tax Road, rescuing eight child workers from various gold jewellery making units.

Acting on complaints, a special team from the Elephant Gate police station raided multiple establishments and found children below the age of 18 employed in violation of labor laws. The children, all from West Bengal, were taken to a child welfare home in Kasimedu, and cases have been lodged against the owners of four units under the Child and Adolescent Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act.
