CM Vijay Inaugurates Periyar Science Centre in Coimbatore

The Periyar Arivulagam and Science Centre in Coimbatore has been described as a major initiative to promote science education and improve public awareness of science and technology. The project, reportedly developed at a cost of ₹300 crore, aims to provide students and visitors with opportunities to explore scientific concepts through interactive learning.

The centre is intended to make science more interesting and accessible to people of different age groups. Through educational displays and interactive activities, visitors will be able to learn about scientific discoveries, technological developments and the practical applications of science in everyday life.

The project has been associated with the DMK government, which has highlighted its role in planning and developing the facility. DMK leader M.K. Stalin has emphasised the government’s contribution to bringing the initiative forward.

Science centres can play an important role in education by helping students understand complex subjects through practical demonstrations and visual exhibits. Such facilities can also encourage curiosity, critical thinking and interest in scientific research among young people.

The centre is expected to attract students, teachers, researchers and science enthusiasts from Coimbatore and other parts of the region. It could also provide educational opportunities for schools and colleges by offering an additional space for learning beyond traditional classrooms.

The initiative reflects efforts to strengthen science education and encourage greater public interest in innovation and technology. Further details about the centre’s facilities, visitor access and official inauguration arrangements would help clarify its role in the region’s educational development.
