Congress Backs Student Protest Over Jharkhand Exam Scandal
The protest over alleged exam irregularities in Jharkhand has entered its 13th day, with students continuing their demonstration and demanding justice. The movement has gained widespread attention across the state, and the Congress party has openly expressed its support for the students. The party said that ensuring justice and protecting the future of young people should be a top priority.
The Congress is part of the ruling alliance with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government in the state. Despite being in power, Congress leaders said they stand with the students and support their demand for a fair and transparent recruitment process. They said that every student deserves an equal opportunity to compete without any doubts about the examination system.
K. Raju, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Jharkhand, posted on the social media platform X that the party fully supports the students who are protesting against the alleged exam paper leak. He said Congress leaders from different parts of the country have come together to express solidarity with the students and support their fight for justice.
A Congress delegation led by Raju also met Chief Minister Hemant Soren to discuss the issue. During the meeting, the delegation thanked the Chief Minister for setting up a ministerial committee to hold talks with the protesters and find a solution to their concerns. The committee is expected to interact with student representatives and suggest measures to address the issue.
The protest began on July 25 at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium and has now become one of the largest student-led movements seen in Jharkhand in recent years. Students from different parts of the state have joined the protest, demanding greater transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.
The protesters are demanding the cancellation of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Civil Services Examination, claiming that the examination was affected by serious irregularities. They are also asking for an independent investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or by a panel of retired High Court judges from outside Jharkhand to ensure an impartial inquiry.
In addition, the students are calling for major reforms in the functioning of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). They believe these reforms are necessary to improve transparency, prevent future irregularities, and restore public confidence in the state’s recruitment system.
The state government has said it is ready to continue discussions with the students and work toward a peaceful solution. Meanwhile, the protesters have made it clear that they will continue their demonstration until their demands are addressed. The outcome of the talks between the government and the student representatives will be closely watched in the coming days.
