Congress Ministers and Legislators to Protest in Delhi Against Centre’s Alleged Injustice

Ministers and legislators from the ruling Congress in Karnataka are set to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on February 7, highlighting grievances against the BJP-led Central government. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah claims that Karnataka incurred a loss of ₹1.87 lakh crore during the 15th Finance Commission due to reduced tax devolution, non-release of drought relief, and denial of clearances for irrigation projects.

The protest, described as non-political, aims to draw attention to what the leaders perceive as the Centre’s unfavorable treatment. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for the 16th Finance Commission to address the state’s concerns regarding tax distribution and compensation for GST-related losses. The State also alleges the non-release of promised funds and environmental clearances for vital projects, further aggravating the discontent.
