Congress President Chairs Meeting to Finalize Telangana Assembly Candidates
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge presided over a crucial meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) to determine the remaining candidates for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections. The initial list of candidates was released almost ten days ago, and the party leadership, including Sonia Gandhi, K.C. Venugopal, and A. Revanth Reddy, met to finalize the second list of candidates for the 119-member Assembly.
During the meeting, they also discussed strategies for accommodating senior leaders who recently joined the Congress after leaving the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Kharge expressed confidence in the Congress’s prospects in Telangana and took a swipe at rival parties, emphasizing the Congress’s commitment to the state’s welfare.
The second list of candidates is expected to be released in the coming days, with polling scheduled for November 30 and vote counting on December 3. The Congress is gearing up for a competitive electoral battle in the state.
