CPCL to Compensate ₹7.5 Crore for Ennore Oil Spill During Cyclone Michaung

The Tamil Nadu government has mandated a compensation of ₹8.68 crore for families and boats affected by the oil spill in Ennore during Cyclone Michaung. Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) will contribute ₹7.53 crore, with ₹1.15 crore to be added by the Tamil Nadu Disaster Management Authority to the relief fund.

The Fisheries Department has allocated ₹78.7 lakh for boat relief and ₹287.6 lakh for affected families. Greater Chennai Corporation stated that 6,700 houses were affected, requiring ₹502.5 lakh relief. CPCL and the State government declared the completion of emergency recovery work, with ongoing efforts to address residual oil pockets in the Kosasthalaiyar till December 31.
