DMK and Congress Boycott Independence Day ‘At Home’ Reception in Puducherry

The opposition parties, DMK and Congress, have declared their boycott of the customary ‘At Home’ reception organized by the Lt Governor, Tamilisai Soundararajan, at the Raj Bhavan on the evening of Independence Day in Puducherry.

DMK leader R. Shiva criticized the Lt Governor for allegedly overstepping the role of the Chief Minister and engaging in political discourse. He also cited inappropriate comments against the Tamil Nadu government as a reason for the boycott.

Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee President V. Vaithilingam and Congress legislative party leader M. Vaidyanathan also echoed the boycott decision, expressing their party’s discontent with the current political environment.
