Doctors Protest Suspensions Over Rat Bite Incident

Across Telangana, doctors are staging a unified protest wearing black badges in response to the suspension of two doctors and a staff nurse following a rat bite incident at Government General Hospital, Kamareddy. Dr. Jalagam Thirupathi Rao, representing the Telangana Teaching Government Doctors Association, emphasizes that the responsibility for rodent-related issues lies with sanitation staff, not doctors.

Dr. Vasanth Kumar, one of the suspended doctors, highlights his absence during the incident and questions the basis of his suspension. The duty doctor, who initially attended to the patient, questions the appropriateness of conducting rounds and assessing the patient’s condition. An inquiry by health department officials is scheduled, and the suspended doctors plan to present their side of the story to the Director of Medical Education.
