Emergency Response in Kerala: Fire at Waste Dumping Yard in Kasaragod
In the wee hours of February 13, a significant fire erupted at a waste dumping yard in Kasaragod district, Kerala, prompting a swift response from firefighters across the region. Teams from Kasaragod, Uppala, Kanhangad, and Trikaripur successfully extinguished the blaze by 4 a.m., averting further damage. The dumping yard, operational for 17 years, serves as a disposal site for waste collected from various areas in Mangalpadi panchayat.
District authorities, led by District Collector K. Inbasekar, convened an emergency meeting to assess the situation, ensuring prompt measures for containment and potential medical assistance if needed. Additionally, directives were issued to provide essential facilities, including masks, through local administrative channels.
