Goa Resorts Receive Show Cause Notices for Alleged Involvement in International Sex Trafficking Racket
The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Mapusa in North Goa has issued show cause notices to two resorts, accusing them of allowing their premises to be used for an ‘international sex trafficking racket’. The SDM, Gurudas S.T. Desai, has demanded responses from the resort owners, scheduling a hearing for September 28. If they fail to reply, necessary orders will be passed to seal the properties.
Goa Police had previously urged the SDM to seal the resorts after uncovering alleged connections to an international sex trafficking racket. Two female Kenyan nationals were arrested, and five Kenyan women were rescued. The victims lured with promises of jobs in the hospitality industry, were forced into prostitution after arriving in India, their passports and visas seized by traffickers.
