Grand Continent Hotels Expands with Asset-Light Strategy
Grand Continent Hotels Ltd, a Chennai-based hotel group, is planning to expand its business by focusing on corporate travellers and people visiting pilgrimage destinations. The company aims to increase its hotel network while maintaining profitability through an asset-light business model.
The mid-market hotel group will complete 15 years in the hospitality industry next month. It currently operates 28 hotels and plans to add another 10 hotels in the near future. This expansion is expected to help the company reach more customers and strengthen its presence in the Indian hotel industry.
The company is giving special attention to corporate travel, which includes employees and business professionals travelling for meetings, conferences and other work-related activities. At the same time, it sees opportunities in pilgrimage tourism, as many people travel to religious destinations throughout the year. By focusing on these two segments, the company aims to meet the needs of different types of travellers.
Grand Continent Hotels follows an asset-light business model. Under this approach, a hotel company can expand its operations by managing or operating hotels without having to own every property. This can help reduce the amount of money invested in buildings and other fixed assets. It also allows the company to focus on hotel operations, service quality, customer satisfaction and business growth.
As the demand for travel and accommodation changes, the company is looking to identify new markets and suitable locations for expansion. Its plans to add 10 hotels indicate its intention to grow its network in the coming years while keeping profitability as a key priority.
Ramesh Shiva, founder and Managing Director of Grand Continent Hotels Ltd, discussed the company’s business strategy, hotel expansion plans and changing customer demand in an interview. He also spoke about the opportunities available in corporate travel and pilgrimage tourism, along with the company’s approach to growing its business.
As it approaches its 15th anniversary, Grand Continent Hotels is looking to build on its existing operations and explore further growth opportunities. With 28 hotels currently in operation and 10 more planned, the company aims to strengthen its position in the mid-market hotel segment. Its future growth will focus on expanding its network, serving more travellers and maintaining a balance between business expansion and profitability.
