Greek Star Wins Long Jump Title Again

Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece won his fourth straight long jump gold at the European championships in Birmingham, England. Despite strong winds, he jumped 8.44 meters on his fourth try to take first place.

Tentoglou, a two-time Olympic champion, said the unpredictable wind made the competition especially tough. He praised Switzerland’s Simon Ehammer for his silver (8.29 meters) and Bulgaria’s Bozhidar Sarâboyukov for bronze (8.26 meters).

The victory was extra meaningful for Tentoglou, who also won back-to-back Olympic titles in 2020 and 2024. He plans to continue competing at the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Meanwhile, Britain’s Romell Glave claimed gold in the men’s 100 meters with a time of 10.09 seconds, improving on his bronze from two years ago. His teammate Jeremiah Azu took silver (10.16 seconds), and Germany’s Owen Ansah finished third (10.19 seconds).

Amy Hunt won Britain’s first gold in the women’s 100 meters earlier that day.

In a thrilling finish, Netherlands’ Nadine Visser barely edged out Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska by one-thousandth of a second to win the women’s 100 meter hurdles. Visser crossed in 12.668 seconds, and France’s Laeticia Bapté took third (12.73).

The European championships featured many standout performances, with athletes showing strength and determination under pressure.
