Harleen Deol, Sneh Rana absent as BCCI announce India squad for Women’s T20 WC
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has announced the 15-member squad for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. The tournament will be held in England and Wales from 12 June 2026.
The Indian team will be led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, with Smriti Mandhana as the vice-captain. Both players will play a key role in guiding the team during the tournament.
The squad includes several experienced and young players. Important names in the team are Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, and Richa Ghosh. These players are expected to strengthen India’s batting and wicketkeeping departments.
However, some well-known players have been left out of the squad. Harleen Deol, Sneh Rana, and Amanjot Kaur are among the notable absentees. Their exclusion has surprised some fans, but selectors have chosen a balanced team based on current form and fitness.
The same squad will also play a three-match T20 International series against England starting from 28 May to 3 June. This series will help the team prepare for the World Cup and adjust to English playing conditions.
The selected team includes a mix of batters, bowlers, and all-rounders such as Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh Thakur, Radha Yadav, and others. Selectors believe this combination gives India a strong chance in the upcoming tournament.
Fans are now looking forward to seeing how this young and experienced squad performs on the big stage in England.
